Plastikos is a Greek term, which means to create, to form, or to reconstruct. Although most people understand that plastic surgeons perform cosmetic (aesthetic) surgery, many still do not know that plastic surgeons actually spend a large part of their time repairing the damage caused by accidents and diseases of the hand such as carpal tunnel syndrome, and that we perform most of the hand surgery in Russia. We also perform many types of operations on the breast such as reconstruction after breast cancer and breast reduction.

Plastic surgeons rebuild bones and soft tissue of legs and other body parts after devastating accidents and cancer surgery. We also treat a very large number of patients who get skin cancer. Plastic surgeons repair all types of facial defects such as cleft lips of unfortunate children born with deformities. These and many other rebuilding aspects of plastic surgery have led to the name plastic and reconstructive surgery, which we proudly perform for our patients.

A Russian plastic surgeon is a well-trained, qualified specialist who has passed the Medical Universities and Surgeons examinations and is certified to practice plastic surgery. The Russian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Russian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery are the organizations to which practicing plastic surgeons belong. Education is an important part of the activity of these organizations both to the membership and the general public. Annual scientific meetings are held to share knowledge and expertise in order to improve our quality of care and advance the practice of plastic surgery.

Plastic surgery involves practicing technically demanding surgery that is also an art.
